Depression

Depression is characterized as severe and prolonged feelings of discouragement, frustration and despair. There are multiple causes of depression such as specific life events, a chemical imbalance in the brain or a pessimistic outlook on life.
How do you know if you have depression?
-
You’re sad for a prolonged time.

You experience lack of sleep.
-
You have poor eating habits.
-
You don’t find joy in things.
-
You have crying spells.

You’re irritable.

You have trouble completing things.
-
You notice differences in your weight.
In therapy we’ll address many of these symptoms with my cognitive behavioral therapy approach. We’ll address your negative thinking, perceptions and the triggers behind them. Negative thoughts lead to negative feelings resulting in undesirable behaviors.
Therapy will help you identify your problems clearly, develop awareness of automatic negative thoughts and develop a more positive way to look at things to alleviate negative behaviors. You will also have more control of your thoughts, which affect your mood while increasing self-esteem.
